Dortmund coach Lucien Favre lauds 'fantastic' Giovanni Reyna

Giovanni Reyna has been praised by Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre ahead of the club's Bundesliga game against Mainz on Wednesday.
Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre has spoken highly of Giovanni Reyna ahead of Wednesday's Bundesliga clash with Mainz.

Reyna was supposed to make his first start for Dortmund against Schalke 04 last month, but pulled out of the squad after picking up an injury in warm-up.

Having featured in 16 games in the second half of the season, the 17-year-old is starting to make a name for himself at Signal Iduna Park, and Favre believes he has a bright future ahead of him.

"His movement is very good. He's only 17 and a huge talent," Favre told reporters at a press conference and added:

"I'm looking forward to continue working with him. He understands football, both offensively and defensively. He's very, very clever. What he does at the age of 17 is fantastic."

At the press conference, Favre also admitted that he could use another striker to relieve the pressure on Erling Haaland.

"I think everybody knows that," Favre said.

"Erling can't play 90 minutes every single match, he needs breaks. Nevertheless, I like his mentality, it's a lot of fun to work with him. But he has to understand that he has to rest every now and then," he added.
