Fortuna relegated from the Bundesliga, Werder seal play-off place

Fortuna Düsseldorf have dropped out of the Bundesliga following a 3-0 loss to Union Berlin. Werder Bremen thumped FC Köln 6-1 to seal the relegation play-off spot.

Fortuna Düsseldorf have been relegated from the Bundesliga along with SC Paderborn after a 3-0 defeat away at Union Berlin on Saturday, which saw them slip to 17th.


Werder Bremen, who were two points behind Fortuna prior to Matchday 34, overtook 'Die Flingeraner' in the relegation play-off spot with a crushing 6-1 victory over FC Köln at the Weserstadion.

At Borussia-Park, Borussia Mönchengladbach clinched a spot in next season's Champions League with a 2-1 victory over Hertha BSC, which saw them hang on to fourth place ahead of Bayer Leverkusen.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund were thrashed 0-4 at home by Hoffenheim while champions Bayern München thumped Wolfsburg 4-0 at Volkswagen Arena.
