Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirms Thiago wants to leave Bayern amid Liverpool links

Bayern München CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admits Thiago Alcantara seems keen to take on a new challenge at another club amid reported interest from Liverpool.
Bayern München have been trying to extend Thiago Alcantara's contract, which expires in 2021, but the Spanish midfield maestro has been stalling on a new deal.

In an interview with Bild, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge now acknowledges that the 29-year-old appears to be keen on leaving the club.

"He's a great guy, both on and off the pitch. We negotiated seriously with him and fulfilled all his wishes. But it looks like he might want to try something new at the end of his career," Rummenigge said.

Thiago has been linked with a move to Liverpool, but Rummenigge claims there has been no contact with 'The Reds' at this point.

"We haven't had any contact with Liverpool at all. But if he wants to go there, we have to deal with it," he said.

Bayern will definitely not let the 29-year-old leave for free in 2021, so if he wants to go, he will be sold this summer.

"We don't want to lose a player for free next year. I'm saying this very clearly," Rummenigge underlined.
