Werder Bremen boss Frank Baumann is hoping that Florian Kohfeldt wants to stay on as coach after avoiding relegation from the Bundesliga.

"Florian has shown this season that he can master difficult situations. Therefore, there's no question for me [that he should stay]," Baumann told Bild after Werder secured another season in the Bundesliga with a 2-2 draw against Heidenheim in the relegation play-off on Monday.

"I'm still totally convinced of him. I assume that he has the desire to continue on this path, too. He definitely has enough power to do so," he added.

Kohfeldt himself said it's now time to sit down and analyze the club's disappointing season.

"It's now time for the analytical part, which is incredibly important for the future of Werder Bremen. In the next few days, we will discuss what is best for Werder," Kohfeldt said.

Kohfeldt and Werder steered clear of direct relegation with a 6-1 victory over FC Köln in the final Bundesliga game of the season, leapfrogging Fortuna Düsseldorf into the relegation play-off spot.
