AC Milan have reportedly joined the race for the signature of Freiburg's Robin Koch, who has also been touted as a target for Tottenham.

According to Bild, the Serie A side are looking to bring in a centre-back this summer and have identified the versatile German international as a possible candidate.

Former RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick has been heavily linked with the job as head coach of Milan, who would have a good chance of signing Koch with his German compatriot at the helm.

Koch, 23, came close to a move to RB Leipzig in January, but Freiburg didn't want to let him go at the time. Should 'Die Roten Bullen' manage to hold on to Dayot Upamecano, they look unlikely to reignite their interest in Koch this summer.

The German international, who is under contract with Freiburg until next summer, has openly said he feels ready to take the next step in his career.
