Oliver Kahn: Alexander Nübel needs time to settle at Bayern

It's a "very big step" for Alexander Nübel to join Bayern München, says Oliver Kahn.
Bayern München board member Oliver Kahn has stated that Alexander Nübel needs time to find his feet at Allianz Arena following his summer move from Schalke 04.

Nübel has joined Bayern with the ambition of taking over the number one shirt from Manuel Neuer eventually, but at first, it's all about adjusting to his new surroundings, says Kahn.

"I've talked to Alexander Nübel occasionally. It's a very big step to join Bayern, I experienced that as a player myself. In the beginning, it's all about acclimatizing, settling in here and getting to know your teammates and the coaching team, and then you have to try to gain a foothold step by step," Kahn told reporters and added:

"He said himself that this is a mid-term challenge for him. That means he accepts that it might take him a year or two to take over from Manuel Neuer, who is obviously the absolute number one at the moment. Last season, you could see how his many important saves contributed to us winning the Bundesliga for the eighth time in a row."

Nübel, 23, has signed a contract until 2025 with the Bavarians.
