Borussia Dortmund feel in no rush to open talks with head coach Lucien Favre about an extension of his contract, which expires next year.

"Neither the club nor the coach see no need for a contract extension at the moment. This is the way we have agreed to head into the season," BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told Welt am Sonntag.

He added that Dortmund aren't planning to sit down with Favre for talks about the future before the winter break at the earliest.

Unlike last year, where Borussia Dortmund publicly said they were aiming for the Bundesliga title, Zorc doesn't want to announce an official goal for the coming season.

"The fact that we were suddenly described as a self-proclaimed title aspirant led to an anxious environment," said Zorc.

Favre has led Dortmund to two second-place finishes in the Bundesliga since he took over as coach in 2018.
