Matthias Ginter confirms desire to stay at Gladbach despite interest from top clubs

Matthias Ginter has stressed that he's not interested in a move away from Gladbach despite reported interest from Chelsea, Atlético Madrid and Inter.
Matthias Ginter has made it clear that he will be staying at Borussia Mönchengladbach for the upcoming season.

The centre-back is understood to have attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Atlético Madrid and Inter, but he has no intention of departing Borussia-Park at the moment.

"I'll definitely stay at Gladbach. I have of course registered the inquiries and am pleased about this certain appreciation, but I have also emphasized often enough how well I'm doing in Gladbach. The current team have great potential, and the coach is huge added value for us," Ginter told Kicker and added:

"The club are in the process of building something with the great fans and the environment. I also have big goals in this context, and I have a contract, of course."

Ginter's contract, which expires in 2021, includes an option to extend by a further year, but Gladbach would prefer if he signed a new long-term deal.

"I can imagine that too, but there is no hurry. Due to corona, no talks have taken place about this yet," Ginter said.

Gladbach paid €17 million to sign the 26-year-old from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
