Emil Forsberg 'assumes' he will stay at RB Leipzig

Emil Forsberg 'assumes' he will stay at RB Leipzig this summer after holding talks with the club.
Emil Forsberg has committed himself to RB Leipzig ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Asked if he will be staying at Red Bull Arena this summer, the Swedish international told Kicker:

"Yes, I assume so."

"I'm not done here and still have two more years left on my contract. I feel very well, so does my family. My daughter is now going to daycare, and my wife is happy, too. We have a great team with many players with great potential. As one of the older ones, I try to push the boys in the right direction."

Ahead of the upcoming season, the 28-year-old has sat down with the club bosses to talk about his future at the Bundesliga side.

"I received only positive signals. The talks were really good. We're go on the way together and want the best for Leipzig. I feel well and know what I can help the team if I'm in top shape. Then everyone will know what I can do," Forsberg said.

Forsberg has made 172 appearances for RB Leipzig with 38 goals and 50 assists to his name since joining the club from Malmö FF in January 2015. His contract expires in 2022.
