Rudy to RB Leipzig? Here's how things stand

Bayern München midfielder Sebastian Rudy is an option for RB Leipzig. However, there are currently a few stumbling blocks in the way of a deal.
When RB Leipzig were first linked with Bayern München midfielder Sebastian Rudy by Bild a few weeks ago, 'Die Roten Bullen' coach and sporting director Ralf Rangnick was quick to deny the report.

However, according to various German media outlets, RB Leipzig are in fact interested in the German international. According to Leipziger Volkszeitung, Rudy even went to Leipzig to take a look at the training facilities last Friday.

There are currently still a few obstacles in the way of a deal, though.

First of all, RB Leipzig can't match Rudy's current salary at Bayern. According to Sky, the 28-year-old would be willing to take a pay cut and make the contract more performance based.

The second obstacle is the transfer fee. Sky reports that the two teams have been in negotiations for some time now and that a loan deal with an option to buy is a possibility.

Rudy joined Bayern München from Hoffenheim in 2017 and has so far made 35 appearances for the club with one goal and five assists to his name. The midfielder has played 25 matches for the German national team, scoring one goal.
