FC Köln managing director Horst Heldt has confirmed reports that the club are looking into the possibility of signing Ron-Robert Zieler from Hannover 96.

Heldt doesn't want to shy away from the fact that FC Köln are on the market for a new goalkeeper to compete with Timo Horn for the spot between the sticks and admits that Zieler is among the candidates.

"It's clear that we're looking at a new second-choice goalkeeper. We're testing the market. You can surely say that we are looking at Ron-Robert Zieler. But we are also looking at other goalkeepers. There are some interesting candidates for us," Heldt told Express.de.

Hannover 96 chief Martin Kind recently made it clear that Zieler will be allowed to leave the club this summer.

Kingsley Schindler has moved in the opposite direction today, joining Hannover on loan from FC Köln.
