Modeste on Witsel: 'One of the best midfielders I've ever played with'

Anthony Modeste played with new Borussia Dortmund signing Axel Witsel in China, and he's very impressed by the central midfielder.
Former FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste, who played with new Borussia Dortmund signing Axel Witsel at Chinese side Tianjin Quanjin, says the Belgian international is among the best midfielders he has ever played alongside.

"His move is no surprise to me. I've been playing with him for a year, and during that year, I've seen that he can do everything," Modeste told Sport1 and added:

"He has a lot of stamina and can run for hours. I have never been on the pitch with a similar player. He's one of the best midfielders I've ever played with."

Borussia Dortmund paid €20 million for Witsel, and according to Modeste, that's 'not much money' for a player of Witsel's quality and 'a gift for Dortmund'.

"I trust in Axel. He will play very well in Dortmund and settle in well," Modeste said.

Witsel played for Standard Liege, Benfica and Zenit Saint Petersburg before joining Tianjin Quanjin in January 2017.
