Bayern München want to keep Hansi Flick as coach for many years to come, says club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Flick was initially installed on an interim basis when Niko Kovac was dismissed in November, but signed a three-year deal to stay on as head coach in April after bringing Bayern back on track.

Since then, Flick has continued his success, guiding the Bavarians to the German double and a spot in the Champions League semi-finals, where they will now meet Olympique Lyon on Wednesday.

"Bayern's future coach is Hansi Flick - and hopefully he will remain so for a very, very long time. We can all congratulate ourselves on Hansi Flick last November and expressing confidence in him. He has paid back this trust again and again," Rummenigge said in an interview with Kicker and added:

"Hansi Flick has brought back important values to the team and the club. We are in a very good position at the moment, having won the German double and advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League. This makes us happy. We don't just play successful football, but highly attractive football as well. This was our goal."

In the past, Flick worked as an assistant under Germany coach Joachim Löw from 2006 to 2014.
