Roman Bürki: Jadon Sancho has developed as a personality

Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki says Jadon Sancho has responded well to his failed Manchester United move.
Roman Bürki has praised Borussia Dortmund teammate Jadon Sancho for his attitude after the 20-year-old's reported switch to Manchester United has fallen through.

Bürki lashed out at Sancho for his off-field antics earlier in the summer, when the winger was fined by the German Football League (DFL) for being pictured without a mask while getting a haircut at home, thus breaching coronavirus restrictions.

But after seeing Sancho in pre-season, Bürki says he feels the England international has developed personality-wise.

"I wasn't 100 percent expecting him to stay, but I hoped he would. It has always been clear that you have to pay a certain amount of money to buy a player of his quality. But because of Corona, it's not as easy for the clubs as it was before," Bürki said in an interview with Kicker and added:

"I don't believe that Jadon is sad that he will continue to be a part of Borussia Dortmund. He comes to training with a smile and is happy to be with us. Jadon is still a top player next year. Time is not running out for him. Besides: He has developed as a personality.

"I am not aware of any current events that give cause for criticism. Jadon hasn't done anything wrong in two and a half weeks of pre-season so far," the goalkeeper said.

Sancho's contract with Dortmund expires in 2023.
