Oliver Kahn claims Bayern are closing in on a new deal for David Alaba

Bayern München board member Oliver Kahn is 'very, very optimistic' that David Alaba will put pen to paper on a new deal.
Bayern München are closing in on a contract extension for David Alaba, according to club chief Oliver Kahn.

Alaba, who has just one year left on his contract, has been stalling on a new deal, but Kahn is optimistic of reaching an agreement.

"We are currently in frequent contact with David and his representatives," Kahn told reporters at a press conference on Thursday.

"We are getting closer and are doing everything to keep him as a club. I'm very, very optimistic in this regard," he continued.

Apart from a six-month loan at Hoffenheim, Alaba has spent his entire career at Bayern so far, making a total of 385 appearances for the club with 31 goals and 48 assists to his name.
