Ottmar Hitzfeld on the Champions League final: 'It was an excellent game'

Former Bayern München coach Ottmar Hitzfeld believes Sunday's Champions League final was an 'excellent game'.
Ottmar Hitzfeld has reflected on Sunday's Champions League final that saw Bayern München beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0.

"It was a very good game with very good individual players," the former FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund coach told Kicker and added:

"As a team, Bayern München were more safe on the ball, more cohesive and more precise. Both teams had good chances during the 90 minutes. All in all, I thought it was an excellent game."

At the end of the day, Hitzfeld believes Bayern deserved to win the Champions League for the first time since 2013.

"Overall, Bayern played an outstanding Champions League season. They didn't show any weaknesses. All 11 players defend and attack. They are unbelievably homogeneous, plus they have players with individual quality, who can decide games," he said.

As a coach, Hitzfeld won the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and with Bayern in 2001.
