Report: Kai Havertz set to complete Chelsea move

Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz is said to be edging closer to a move to Chelsea.
Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sell Kai Havertz to Chelsea.

According to Sport Bild and The Guardian, Leverkusen are expected to accept a bid of €80 million plus a further €20 million in potential bonuses, depending on the London club's success.

Havertz is understood to have agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with Chelsea worth €20 million per season and €100 million in total.

If all goes according to plan, the German international's switch to Chelsea should be announced in the coming days.

Sport Bild claims that Leverkusen are due to receive one half of the bonus – €10 million – if Chelsea achieve their minimum target of regularly qualifying for the Champions League in the next five years.

Should Chelsea win either the Premier League, the FA Cup or the Champions League in the same period, Leverkusen will reportedly receive a further €10 million.

Havertz, who is under contract until 2022, has made 150 appearances for Leverkusen with 46 goals and 31 assists to his name.

Update: Bayer Leverkusen chief Rudi Völler has dismissed reports that Kai Havertz is set to join Chelsea.
