FC Augsburg have agreed a deal in principle to sell Philipp Max to PSV Eindhoven, according to De Telegraaf.

The Dutch news outlet claims the two clubs have agreed a deal worth €8 million, excluding bonuses.

FC Augsburg managing director Stefan Reuter recently told Bild that Philipp Max has asked for permission to leave after learning that the Bundesliga club had received an offer from him.

In Monday's edition of Kicker, Reuter insisted that the two clubs were still "quite a bit apart".

"We have clear ideas, and the other club know what kind of offer they would have to make," Reuter said and added:

"At the moment, you can't give anything away. Philipp Max has enormous quality. We all know how important he has been for us in recent years. A player has a certain market value. Either that is paid or not."

Max's contract with Augsburg expires in 2022.
