Toni Kroos reveals he no longer gets a call from Joachim Löw when he's in the Germany squad
Toni Kroos has become such an integral part of the national team set-up that Germany coach Joachim Löw no longer calls to say he's in the squad.
Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has revealed that Germany coach Joachim Löw no longer gives him a call to inform him that he has been called up for international duty.
Having been a regular part of the national team set-up since making his international debut in 2010, the 30-year-old now only receives a phone call from the Germany coach when "it's agreed that it's better to take a break."
"It's actually like this: If I don't hear from 'Jogi', then I'll go," Kroos said in an episode of the podcast 'Einfach mal Luppen'.
"I see it as a form of appreciation that I'm no longer informed at all," he added.
Kroos has made a total of 96 appearances for 'Die Mannschaft', scoring 17 goals.
