Thilo Kehrer.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Schalke 04 have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for 21-year-old Thilo Kehrer who has agreed to join the French capital club.

Kehrer, who joined Schalke back in 2012 and is a product of the club's youth academy, has now posted a touching statement on Instagram that you can read in full below.

"From being a ballboy at the 'Knappenschmiede' (Schalke's youth department) to the professional squad, via the German A-youth championship to my first derby victory at the Veltins-Arena. During my time at Schalke 04, I not only learned a lot - I met great people who shaped me and made me the person and player I am today. I'm very grateful for that. Special thanks go especially to my teammates, my coaching team and of course to all the employees of the club. Without you, I wouldn't be who I am today!"

"In the last six years, I've given everything on the pitch in every minute, and I have always represented the club with passion and pride. All this would never have been possible without the loyal support from you fans. The mentality that prevails at Schalke is simply unique!

"Together with the team and the fans, I went through highs and lows and always felt like part of a big family. And the fighting spirit, that distinguishes the club and the region, will always be a part of me. I will always keep Schalke as my home in the heart and pursue it - no matter where I am. Good luck! Your Thilo."

Euer Thilo 🙌🏾
