Will Rudy join RB Leipzig or Schalke? Here's how it looks
RB Leipzig and Schalke 04 are still battling for Sebastian Rudy who has been given permission to leave Bayern München.
Sebastian Rudy looks set to leave Bayern München as he has been allowed to leave in the search for more playing time. The question now seems to be if the 28-year-old will join RB Leipzig or Schalke 04.
According to Bild, RB Leipzig are currently in pole position to sign the midfielder. 'Die Roten Bullen' are willing to offer Rudy an annual salary of €5 million.
In addition to that, Rudy has a good relationship with both RB Leipzig head coach and sporting director Ralf Rangnick, who brought him to Hoffenheim from Stuttgart in 2010, and Julian Nagelsmann who will take over as coach in 2019.
Schalke 04 have currently offered Rudy less than €5 million a year, but after the €37 million sale of Thilo Kehrer to Paris Saint-Germain, the 'Royal Blues' will have the financial muscles to improve their offer if needed.
Rudy, 28, currently earns €4 million a year at Bayern München. His contract runs until 2020.
