RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann hopes Ibrahima Konaté can return to training this month

Ibrahima Konaté should be able to return to team training towards the end of September, says RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann.
RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann is hoping that long-term absentee Ibrahima Konaté can return to team training this month.

After an injury-riddled 2019/20 campaign, the young centre-back is nearing his return from a hip problem.

"[Konaté] is in rehab training, but isn't back in team training yet, not even partly. I don't think he will be until late September," Nagelsmann told reporters at a press conference on Thursday.

Speaking in an interview in Thursday's edition of Kicker, Konaté says he hopes to be back in team training this month, but makes it clear that he's not going to rush his return.

"I'm not putting myself under pressure. I only want to play again when I can really help the team," said the 21-year-old.

Konaté has played 74 games for RB Leipzig, scoring three goals.
