Konrad Laimer out for four weeks, Marcel Sabitzer picks up knock

Injury problems for RB Leipzig: Konrad Laimer will be out for four weeks due to a knee problem while Marcel Sabitzer picked up a knock in Saturday's DFB-Pokal win over FC Nürnberg.
RB Leipzig will be without Konrad Laimer when they begin the Bundesliga season against Mainz next week.

The 23-year-old will go through knee surgery on Thursday and will subsequently be out for around four weeks, the club announced on Saturday.

'Die Roten Bullen' opened their 2020/21 campaign with a win in the DFB-Pokal on Saturday as they beat FC Nürnberg in a game that saw Marcel Sabitzer forced off at half-time.

Speaking after the final whistle, RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann allayed fears over the seriousness of his captain's injury, telling reporters:

"He's basically doing quite well. It wasn't a dramatic injury, but probably just a small strain."
