Another striker for Köln: Tolu Arokodare arrives on loan

A Nigerian teenage developmental prospect comes to the Cathedral City on loan from Lativa.
Die Geißböcke of 1. FC Köln have procured some additional assistance on the attack with a one-year-loan deal for Nigerian striker Toluwalase Arokodare. The towering 19-year-old has scored 15 goals in 16 fixtures this season for Latvian club Valmiera FC.

Arokodare’s strong numbers led him to request a transfer earlier in the summer. It was said that his preferred destination was RSC Anderlecht in Belgium.

Arokodare appeared to have no qualms about settling for Germany instead. “For me, this is a dream come true,” the teenager said in a social media post, “I’ve always wanted to play in the Bundesliga.”

“Tolu is a young developing striker who brings with him many positive attributes,” Köln sporting director Horst Heldt remarked when announcing the transfer, “he’s athletic, fast, and strong on headers. An added advantage is that he’s in form and enthusiastic about joining us.”
