Report: Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in Dortmund ahead of move to BVB youth ranks

When one speaks of Dortmund's "youth academy" these days, it's not entirely clear that one is speaking of the reserves. In any event, a new 16-year-old phenom is reportedly about to don the yellow and black.
German footballing magazine Kicker now confirms a report that appeared in "Sport-Bild" ten days ago concerning young English talent Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. According to Kicker, the 16-year-old attacker is already in Dortmund. Potential reasons accounting for the delay of an official announcement include the players age and the fact that he does not yet have a professional contract with his parent club, Manchester City.

The magazine nevertheless confidently predicts that a move will be officially confirmed soon. Bynoe-Gittens will join an already talent-laden Dortmund youth academy that includes budding superstars such as Nnamdi Collins and Youssoufa Moukoko. Moukoko, a 15-year-old phenom who captains the Dortmund Juniors, scored an astounding 34 goals in just 20 appearances last year.

The youth of Dortmund's senior side almost threatens to overshadow the development of Moukoko and others. In Dortmund's 3-0 win over Gladbach in the opening round this weekend, 17-year-olds Giovanni Reyna and Jude Bellingham combined to become the youngest goal-assist duo in Bundesliga history. Less than a half an hour later, 20-year-olds Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland would combine for an absurdly pacy tally.

Amid all if this fanfare, it was almost under-reported that Moukoko snagged a 16-minute hat trick for the BVB Juniors in their opening match. Reliable sources now report that he'll soon have some more company in the form of yet another phenom.
