Bayern München opened their 2020/21 Champions League campaign with a crushing 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid at Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

The regning champions broke the deadlock after 28 minutes when Kingsley Coman brought down a lofted pass from Joshua Kimmich before slotting in at the far post.

With a handful of minutes remaining of the first half, Coman chipped in with an assist when he teed up Leon Goretzka, who smashed the ball past Jan Oblak in the Atletico goal.

Atletico thought they had pulled one back at the beginning of the second half, but Joao Felix's goal was ruled out after Luis Suarez obstructed the view of Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer in an offside position.

Instead, Bayern added to their lead at the other end when Corentin Tolisso blasted a long range effort into the top corner in the 66th minute.

Six minutes later, Coman scored his second goal to make it 4-0, finishing off a superb solo run.

In Milan, fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Inter after Romelu Lukaku scored a late equaliser.
