Two more injuries in Monday's loss to 1. FC Union Berlin push the number of injured players on Hoffenheim head-coach Sebastian Hoeneß's roster to eight.

Defender Stefan Posch, a versatile Austrian youngster often deployed at wingback, tore an ankle ligament in the most recent fixture and has been ruled out for weeks. German U21 midfielder Dennis had to undergo immediate surgery after breaking a bone in his hand. He will also be sidelined for several weeks.

Central defender Ermin Bicakacic (shoulder surgery) and left-back Konstantinos Stafylidis (ACL tear) may not be available until after the New Year. Hoeneß also revealed that the three players testing positive for COVID-19 after the last international break remain in quarantine. Pavel Kaderabek, Kasim Adams, or lead striker Andrej Kramaric are ineligible for Thursday's Europa League clash.

"We don't want to lament," Hoeneß told reporters on Wednesday, "Instead we'll accept the situation as it is now.

The trainer still maintains 22 active players to choose from on one of the league's larger rosters.
