Hertha counting on Krzysztof Piatek to step up while Jhon Cordoba is out

Hertha BSC coach Bruno Labbadia says he has informed Krzysztof Piatek that he will get a run in the starting eleven with Jhon Cordoba sidelined with a long-term injury.
After starting on the bench five times in a row, Krzysztof Piatek will be given the chance to impress at Hertha BSC in the absence of Jhon Cordoba, who is expected to miss the rest of 2020 with a ligament injury.

Piatek scored and set up a goal after he came on to replace Cordoba at half-time in Saturday's 3-0 win over Augsburg and will now come into the starting eleven.

"We have had a conversation. Krzysztof now knows that he is the first choice," Hertha BSC coach Bruno Labbadia said in an interview with Bild and continued:

"I hope this gives him a boost. We need him in a condition in which he shows that he's a danger in front of goal.

"Krzysztof always wants to score goals. We have to adjust our playing style to make sure it suits him, but at the same time, he has to do a few things that are important for the team."

The Polish striker has found the net six times in 23 games for Hertha following his €24 million switch to Berlin from AC Milan in January.
