Official: Robert Andrich suspended for three fixtures

The German FA officially announced a three-match-ban for 1. FC Union Berlin's Robert Andrich on Wednesday.
During last Friday evening's Bundesliga Berlin derby, Union's Robert Andrich barely seemed to comprehend what he had just done. Five long minutes after engaging in a recklessly dangerous challenge for a ball, he remained on the sidelines, evidently convinced that a VAR-review would overturn his red card.

Not only did replays confirm that Andrich was indeed horribly careless with his high boot, they also suggested that a suspension was most certainly coming. As expected, the DFB officially suspended Andrich for three fixtures on Wednesday.

Andrich's expulsion ultimately cost Union the match. Though Urs Fischer's reduced squad fought admirably for a time, they ultimately could not overcome the exhaustion associated with their numerical disadvantage.

Andrich's loss serves as another huge blow for trainer Fischer, who also lost Max Kruse for two months this week. The 26-year-old started all ten matches for die Eisernern this season and even chipped in three goals.
