After a long twelve months of waiting, NYCFC's Joe Scally has finally arrived in the Bundesrepublik.

The newly turned 18-year-old Joe Scally officially joined Borussia Mönchengladbach's active roster on Wednesday. Club information indicates that he will not begin training until next week, meaning that he will not be eligible to play in the Friday matchup against FC Bayern München.

A cautious start notwithstanding, the Bundesliga's newest teenage sensation may soon feature in the starting XI of the foals. Stefan Lainer remains the first-choice option at Scally's position, but has often been used further afield in many instances.

Another likely loan-out for Louis Jordan Beyer, as well as indications from the club that veteran Michael Lang appears more valuable in the locker room than on the pitch, translates to a direct back-up position for Scally on the depth chart. The Long Island native may also be asked to help out on the left.

In a statement publish on the club's website, Scally declared that he "couldn't be happier" to be playing in Germany.

"As a kid, everyone dreams of playing football in Europe--in one of the top five leagues," Scally wrote, "To be able to play in Germany is a big dream. I'm extremely happy to be here now and assume this new challenge."

Scally definitely qualifies as a phenom. He's always been ahead of the curve for the USMNT youth team program. He played for the U-17 squad as a 14-year-old, scoring a memorable goal against Brazil in a 2018 youth tournament.
