Bayern boss Hansi Flick's piece of mind post-Borussia defeat

The Borussia-Park witnessed a spectacular display by the home team as they capitalized on Bayern's defensive lags to come from two goals down to score three.

As Bayern Munich succumbed to their second defeat of the season after blowing a 2-0 lead over Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bavarian boss Hansi Flick made his thoughts known after a disappointing defensive display.

Speaking to DAZN after the match (as reported by Tz.de), Flick commented on the game, saying, “Gladbach were very efficient, brutally exploiting three of our mistakes. We held the game for the first 30 minute. Mistakes and loss of possession from us decided the game and we have to take responsibility.”

The back four of Benjamin Pavard, Sule, Alaba and Alphonso Davies struggled to hold Gladbach at bay as Die Fohlen made an impressive comeback to secure their sixth win of the season.

He was quick to point out Bayern’s defensive setbacks that were instantaneously exploited by Jonas Hoffman: “He (Jonas Hoffman) came twice from the deep midfield and ran very well behind our defensive line. When conceding the second goal, David is one step too early. We are angry about the defeat.”

“With a 2-0 lead you usually have to go to Munich with three points. When you see our game, it’s noticeable we have problems securing the depth when we have possession. Our mistakes were punished today.”

The Bavarians will look to get back to winning ways in the DFB-Pokal second round clash against Holstein Kiel on Thursday, while Borussia take on Stuttgart away at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in the Bundesliga next Saturday.
