Dortmund won't be signing a back-up for Witsel in January, insists Zorc

Borussia Dortmund have no intentions of signing a back-up for Axel Witsel after the midfielder picked up an injury in the weekend, insists sporting director Michael Zorc.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has ruled out the possibility of signing a back-up for Axel Witsel this month after the Belgian international suffered a ruptured achilles tendon in Saturday's 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday.

"We will fill this void with our own personnel. Emre [Can] did very well after stepping in as a one-to-one replacement for Axel, and Jude [Bellingham] will be back from injury next week. We're not worried about this situation," Zorc told Sport1.

With 22 appearances to his name this season, Witsel has featured in nearly every game of Dortmund's 2020/21 campaign so far.
