Gladbach strike Embolo from squad ahead of Bremen

Details remain sketchy after a Monday press conference. Borussia Mönchengladbach nevertheless confirmed that Breel Embolo will not be available for Tuesday's league fixture against Bremen.

Embolo recently underwent hand surgery and was considered a doubt for the round 16 fixture against VfB Stuttgart. It came as something of a surprise to many when his name appeared on the team sheet of the starting XI on Saturday. Embolo did not have an especially strong match; something his trainer Marco Rose attributed to effects related to the surgery.
"Breel was clearly tired after undergoing general anesthesia," Rose conceded on Monday, "we underestimated that."
Rose also speak on the play of separate actors Denis Zakaria and Christoph Kramer during the Monday presser. He acknowledged that both displayed signs of fatigue and hinted that both "may be in need of a break."
The returning Alassné Plea, used as a substitute against Stuttgart, was also discussed. Used as a substitute against Stuttgart, Rose cautioned that "we must continue to be careful with him."
Rose declined to commit to any specific rotations in front of the press.
