Kovac confirms Boateng stay: 'He is a world-class centre-back'

Niko Kovac has confirmed Jerome Boateng will stay at Bayern München, saying he rates the 29-year-old very highly.
Bayern München coach Niko Kovac has made it clear once and for all that Jerome Boateng will not the leave the German champions this summer.

"He is a world-class centre-back and an absolute professional. He's here now, and he's going to stay here too," Kovac said at a press conference today.

According to various German media outlets, Bayern turned down a €40 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain for Boateng yesterday, ensuring that the centre-back will stay.

Meanwhile, Kovac confirmed that another Bayern defender - Juan Bernat - is close to joining the French champions.

"Juan Bernat is in Paris and will most likely sign a contract there," he said.
