Fantasy Bundesliga:
Must-haves and differentials for Matchday 20

By Christian Andrick

Ahead of Matchday 20, we have highlighted a must-have player (M) and a differential pick (D) from each game that you should consider for your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
Jonas Hofmann and Gladbach are unbeaten in their last six league games.
Jonas Hofmann and Gladbach are unbeaten in their last six league games.
Hertha BSC v. FC Bayern München:

M: Thomas Müller. Forward (FCB, 21.4M, 14%) - Mr. Steady, Müller has scored double digit Fantasy points in three out of the last four games. Sitting in second place in total points for the season, it is quite surprising that he has only 14% ownership. Of the top five players, Müller and André Silva are the only two with ownership under 15%. The other three all have 30% and higher.

D: Marc Roca, Midfielder (FCB, 8.8M, 0%) - With Bayern’s midfield in all sorts of shambles at the moment, Roca should get another rare start alongside Kimmich. He had a decent showing last week against Hoffenheim with seven Fantasy points. He should be able to get off a few goal attempts against a suspect Berlin defense that's given up seven goals in the last two games.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen v. VfB Stuttgart:

M: Saša Kalajdžić, Forward (VFB, 5.3M, 5%) - The three main forwards for Stuttgart (González, Wamangituka and Kalajdžić) have now all scored over 100 Fantasy points each for the season. Only Bayern and Leverkusen have more. Such a testament to the fantastic play Pellegrino Matarazzo and his men have shown us this season. Leverkusen have two big center backs in Tah (1,95m) and Tapsoba (1,94m) so Kalajdžić (2m) will need to use his height advantage in this matchup.

D: Kerem Demirbay, Midfielder (B04, 12.7M, 1%) - Demirbay had one of his better games since the winter break last week, registering four crosses and a shot attempt against a tough Leipzig side. With Leverkusen dealing with multiple midfielders out due to injury and covid, Demirbay will be completely relied upon going forward.

Sport-Club Freiburg v. Borussia Dortmund:

M: Raphaël Guerreiro, Defender (BVB, 16.4M, 15%) - Two assists in his last three games and Guereiro continues to wreak havoc for opposing defenses. Between him and Angeliño, one of them should never leave your squad.

D: Jonathan Schmid, Midfielder (SCF, 9.9M, 1%) - Schmid picked up an injury at the beginning of January and missed three games. He has made it back for the last two and has played at least 75 minutes in each. He was playing well before he picked up his knock with two assists in two games leading up to the injury. If he is back to full strength, he could start to replicate his previous form.

FC Schalke 04 v. RB Leipzig:

M: Marcel Sabitzer, Midfielder (RBL, 15M, 8%) - Sabitzer has not scored or had an assist in seven games which is completely unlike the Austrian maestro. Nagelsmann has deployed him in a much deeper lying role this year but his shooting skills are still some of the best in the world. Look for this match to be where he breaks out of his slump.

D: Mark Uth, Forward (S04, 11.3M, 0%) - It has not been a lack of effort for Uth lately that is hampering his goal scoring. He has been active and has registered eight shots in the last three games. At this point, Uth needs to seriously improve his stock. With Schalke’s imminent relegation, Uth will want to find a new suitor if he wants to stay in the Bundesliga.

1. FSV Mainz 05 v. 1. FC Union Berlin:

M: Danny da Costa, Defender (M05, 8.6M, 3%) - As da Costa gets settled in with Mainz, he should continue to make an immediate impact on the squad. His pace and wing ability has already opened up another dimension of the Mainz attack that was lacking. He has sent in eight crosses in the last two games and could become Mainz’s player of the year by season end.

D: Marcus Ingvartsen, Midfielder (FCU, 7.9M, 0%) - A goal and an assist in the last two games and Ingvartsen is in the form of his life. A mainstay of the Union lineup now, they need to pick up the pace if they want to continue pushing for a European spot as they did in the Hinrunde.

FC Augsburg v. VfL Wolfsburg:

M: Maxence Lacroix, Defender (WOB, 5.4M, 12%) - Three clean sheets in a row and Wolfsburg have made up tremendous ground in the league table. Their defense is setting them apart from the rest as their centre back pairing of Lacroix and John Anthony Brooks become more familiar with each other. Lacroix comes at a bargain of a price, however, and this week presents another great clean sheet opportunity.

D: Paulo Otávio, Defender (WOB, 8.6M, 1%) - On the other hand, Otávio presents many of the same opportunities as Lacroix but at the differential prospect. A bit higher of a price but hardly owned throughout the Fantasy game. Otávio will also certainly have a greater chance of profiting on the attacking side of the game as well.

Borussia M’gladbach v. 1. FC Köln:

M: Jonas Hofmann, Midfielder (BMG, 13.4M, 6) - In the six games back after the winter break, Hofmann has been very productive with two goals and four assists in that time. Gladbach are unbeaten in those games and are coming off a big Pokal win against Stuttgart. Köln, on the other hand, just lost to second tier side Jahn Regensburg.

D: Alassane Pléa, Forward (BMG, 16.M, 1%) - Three starts in a row and Pléa found his shooting boots. Once he has an actual string of games under his belt, we start to see the best out of him. In his only four game string of starts earlier in the season, Pléa knocked in three goals. This weekend will hopefully be a breakout as well.

TSG Hoffenheim v. Eintracht Frankfurt:

M: Amin Younes, Midfielder (SGE, 6.9M, 3%) - Younes, like all Frankfurt players, has been playing some inspiring football at the moment. Having gone eight games unbeaten, they have made their way back into the Champions League spots. It is no surprise then that this run has coincided with Younes getting his fist start. He also is very easy on your budget.

D: Ihlas Bebou, Forward (TsG, 8.9M, 0%) - Bebou had a decent game last week against Bayern, assisting on their lone goal of the match. He has averaged slightly over seven Fantasy points in the last four games and should get the start for his fourth in a row.

DSC Arminia Bielefeld v. SV Werder Bremen:

M: Ritsu Dōan, Midfielder (DSC, 9.6M, 6%) - Double digit Fantasy points in three out of his last five games, Dōan has quietly worked his way up to the fifth highest scoring midfielder in the Fantasy game. Putting him in the company of names such as Sancho and Olmo is amazing while also being under 10M. If he can continue this form, he is certainly up for newcomer of the year.

D: Kevin Möhwald, Midfielder (SVW, 2.2M, 0%) - In only 45 minutes as a sub last week, Möhwald ripped off three shots and bagged a goal to save a point for Bremen against Schalke. He should be rewarded for his play with a start this weekend. Holding onto him until the last game will not hurt you either as his price point is non-existent.
