Bürki and Meunier return to training, but Wednesday likely comes too soon

By Peter Weis   @PeterVicey

Dortmund's #1 net-minder returned to the training pitch on Sunday. Wednesday's Champions League encounter against FC Sevilla may nevertheless come too soon for him.

Reports from German footballing magazine Kicker and local newspaper "Ruhr-nachrichten" speculate that Thomas Meunier, Lukasz Piszczek also won't be ready in time for the crucial match.

For all the talk in German footballing circles that Swiss veteran Roman Bürki may not be the top caliber keeper that the BVB needs, a club suddenly mired in crisis could certainly use him now. Howlers from back-up Marwin Hitz factored into the loss against Freiburg last weekend and this week's disappointing draw against Hoffenheim.

Trainer Edin Terzic looks to have little choice but to stick with Hitz this midweek as international club football returns. Bürki, missing from the last four fixtures after suffering a shoulder injury, only trained individually according to the German media sources. Thomas Meunier and Lukasz Piszczek also partook in lighter training modules.

Kicker reports that attacker Thorgan Hazard, who's return could also prove a big boost to the struggling Schwarzgelben, has defenitely been ruled out of the UCL match.
