Hansi Flick has guaranteed Leon Goretzka a starting spot against Lazio.
Bayern München coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that Leon Goretza will be in his line-up for Tuesday's Champions League last 16 first-leg tie against Lazio in Rome.
Goretzka came on a half time in Saturday's 2-1 loss against Eintracht Frankfurt, making his first appearance since recovering from his coronavirus infection, and Flick feels the midfielder is ready to start on Tuesday.
"Leon sat out for two weeks after testing positive for coronavirus. You can't take it for granted coming back from an illness like that," Flick told reporters at the pre-match press conference.
"He'll start against Lazio. We hope he can perform like he did in his 45 minutes against Frankfurt. He's good for our game."
Flick also provided an update on Niklas Süle, who wasn't in training on Monday.
"We had a few players carrying knocks, Niklas Süle is one of them. We gave him a recovery day today and he'll travel tomorrow," said the Bayern coach.
