Report: Arne Friedrich seen as a possible successor for Michael Preetz at Hertha

Arne Friedrich is reportedly seen as an option to be appointed Hertha's new sporting managing director should the German capital club fail to convince Fredi Bobic to take the job.
Hertha BSC are still looking for a successor for Michael Preetz, who was relieved of his duties as the club's sporting managing director in January.

So far, the favorite has been Eintracht Frankfurt boss Fredi Bobic, but since the 49-year-old is hesitant to make a decision, Hertha have started looking for alternatives, according to Sport Bild.

Per the German sports magazine, Arne Friedrich is a possible solution. The former German international was appointed sporting director at the club ahead of this season and is currently occupying the role as sporting managing director on an interim basis.

"[Friedrich] has been thrown into somewhat cold water overnight, and he's swimming from the moment," Hertha chairman Carsten Schmidt told Sport Bild.
