In an interview with Sport Bild, the former Hertha BSC striker has now given his side of his story, and he doesn't have much good to say about the now former Schalke coach Manuel Baum, under whose reign he was suspended.
"I didn't have a problem with him. He had a problem with me. He asked me several times to give my opinion on the team or the difficult sporting situation. That's what I was signed for, above all – to help the club with my experience," Ibisevic told Bild.
"Obviously, he had a different opinion. After that, he asked [Schalke head of sport] Jochen Schneider to suspend me."
That it came to such a sudden end for him at Schalke was "unnecessary," and things could have been "solve differently," according to Ibisevic.
Following the announcement that he will be leaving his position as Schalke head of sport at the end of the season, Jochen Schneider has admitted that suspending Ibisevic was a mistake in hindsight.
