Official: Juventus permanently sign Weston McKennie from Schalke 04

22-year-old Weston McKennie has immense potential to become one of Juventus' most important players
US Men’s National Team star Weston McKennie has moved to Juventus from Schalke 04 on a permanent deal, after overseeing a successful loan spell with the Italian giants – according to juventus.com.

The club have confirmed a transfer fee of €18.5m, payable in three years to Schalke, which may well see an additional €6.5m added given the fact that certain conditions are met.

According to transfermarkt, his initial market transfer value lies at €25m, which looks like the price Juve will part with.

The contract between Juventus and McKennie will last until 30 June, 2025.

Juventus exercised the right to buy him after impressive performances for the Old Lady which didn’t go unnoticed by manager Andrea Pirlo. Mckennie’s most remarkable showing arrived in the form of a scissor-kick volley against Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

He has appeared regularly in Serie A this term, having made 21 appearances, scoring 4 goals and assisting 2 in the process.

The midfielder moved from the Dallas academy to Schalke’s youth ranks back in 2016, subsequently starring for their U-19 side. A year was all it took for him to get promoted to the senior squad where he went on to make 91 appearances in space of four years.

He scored 5 goals and made 7 assists for Die Knappen before heading to Turin, where he has scored as many goals in only 31 appearances.
