Dimitrios Grammozis: 'I know what I'm getting into'

New Schalke 04 coach Dimitrios Grammozis says he's well aware of the task ahead at the troubled Gelsenkirchen side.
Dimitrios Grammozis was officially presented as Schalke 04 coach at a press conference today, sitting next to interim director of sport Peter Knäbel.

The 42-year-old underlined he's aware of the difficult task ahead as he takes over a Schalke side desperately clinging to their Bundesliga status.

"It's been a hectic few days. I'm really looking forward to the task and I know what I'm getting into. I know what makes Schalke 04 tick, how much the people love this club and what we owe the club," Grammozis told reporters.

"I got the feeling straight away that Peter Knäbel would really like to work with me. I see Schalke as a big challenge and I want to transfer the power of this football club onto the pitch with the players.

"I can tell the lads want to give everything to win the game on Friday night. In the short time I have with them it won't be possible to work on any part of their game extensively, but they are professionals and they know what is required of them."

Schalke are rock bottom of the Bundesliga with nine points, eight points behind 17th-placed Mainz, who they face at home on Friday.
