Flick signals willingness to loan Nübel out, stresses back-up keeper "knew what he was getting into."

New reports emerge suggesting current Bayern back-up keeper Alexander Nübel was guaranteed at least 10 appearances this season when he committed to moving from Schalke last winter.

FCB trainer Hansi Flick seemed to tacitly acknowledge this agreement in recent comments. Meanwhile, former German national team #1 Jens Lehmann thinks the 24-year-old definitely needs a new team.

In an interview with German broadcaster "Sport1", Hansi Flick admitted that his back-up keeper's agent had some legitimate grievances in comments recently confided to German footballing magazine Kicker.

"His point of view is correct," Flick told the broadcaster, "We'll discuss these matters internally via a mutual exchange of information."

Nübel has made only two appearances this season. Ten deployments, while not mathematically impossible, appear very unlikely across all competitions before the 2020/21 cycle concludes.

"[Alex] knew what he was getting into when he came to Bayern," Flick stressed, "My task as a trainer is to put the best possible team on the pitch. Manuel Neuer is the clear number one."

Perhaps no one understands the frustrations of a fight for the spot between the sticks than former national team goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. The member of the Arsenal "invincibles" squad sat behind Oliver Kahn for years before controversially displacing the German legend during the 2006 World Cup on home soil.

In comments to Germany's "Bild-Zeitung", the current Hertha consultant practically ruled out a Bundesliga destination for the former Schalke net minder. Lehmann suggested that Dortmund, Leipzig, and even his current club wouldn't be sensible destinations.

"If he [Nübel] is allowed to switch, he should really look for a club where he's the number one," Lehmann told Bild, "When a young and an experienced goalkeeper are of equal technical strength, the more experienced one always has the advantage. With his current limited amount of experience, Nübel can't beat anyone."
