Mislintat expresses concern for Wamangituka: "Our first suspicion is a serious knee injury"

The highly anticipated duel between Stuttgart's Silas Wamangituka and Bayern's Alphonso Davies, after some early intrigue, didn't end up materializing on Saturday.

Davies was sent off on a straight red in the 12th minute of the fixture whilst Wamangituka had to be subbed off in the 35th.

VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat confirmed after the match the club fears for its Congolese super striker.
Silas Wamangituka, the undisputed beating heart of VfB Stuttgart's season, stood no chance of staying on after coming out worse for where in a 31st minute challenge with Bayern's David Alaba.

The 21-year-old Congolese striker had to be subbed off four minutes later, unable to walk off on his own power. Two VfB members of the medical staff assisted him.

While no official diagnosis can be made so early, the club's sporting director did not appear hopeful speaking to the Sky microphones afterwards.

"It is already the case that we're worried about him," Sven Mislintat told his interview afterward, "our first suspicion is a serious knee injury."

Stuttgart may be in no real danger of getting relegated, but it would prove difficult indeed to sustain their hopes for Europe absent their best player. Wamangituka has tallied 11 times and recorded five assists this season.
