Report: Gladbach ready to battle Leverkusen for Union's Marvin Friedrich

Gladbach have reportedly emerged as suitors for Union Berlin centre-back Marvin Friedrich, who has also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen.
Borussia Mönchengladbach are showing interest in Union Berlin centre-back Marvin Friedrich, according to Bild.

'Die Fohlen' could potentially say goodbye to several key assets this summer, with Denis Zakaria and Matthias Ginter – both under contract until 2022 – among the players linked with moves away from the club.

While Zakaria has been flirting with a departure for some time, Ginter reportedly wants to wait and see who replaces Dortmund-bound Marco Rose as Gladbach coach before making a decision on his future.

Per the report, Gladbach have targeted Friedrich as a possible replacement for Ginter should he leave the club this summer.

Friedrich, who is understood to have a €7.5 million release clause in his contract, is said to have attracted interest from Bayer Leverkusen as well.
