Hertha in talks with Rune Jarstein over new contract

Hertha BSC are said to be in talks with Rune Jarstein over a contract extension.
Veteran goalkeeper Rune Jarstein has been offered a contract extension by Hertha BSC, according to Bild.

Hertha sporting director Arne Friedrich has told the German newspaper that Hertha have opened talks with 36-year-old, who is keen on staying as well, according to his agent, Tawan Tehrani.

"Rune is very motivated to continue performing for a long time. He can also well imagine staying connected to the club beyond the end of his career," said Tehrani.

Jarstein has emerged as Hertha's first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Alexander Schwolow since Pal Dardai took over as coach in January.

The Norwegian veteran has made a total of 179 appearances for Hertha since joining the club from Viking FK in January 2014.
