Bayern München extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to seven points with a 1-0 win over title rivals RB Leipzig at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.

Bayern were without talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski, but still managed to clinch all three points thanks to a first-half strike from Leon Goretzka.

Both teams pressed high up the pitch in a high-tempo first half with very few chances created at either end as a result thereof.

In fact, it took 38 minutes for the first shot on target, and it came from Leon Goretzka, who smashed home at the near post after being excellently teed up by Thomas Müller.

Leipzig made a strong start to the second half, but failed to turn their dominance into goals as Marcel Sabitzer and Dani Olmo missed big chances.

However, Bayern were quick to regain their composure and managed to test RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi on a few occasions while keeping the home side quiet for the rest of the game.
