Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis hopeful of Huntelaar stay

Schalke 04 coach Dimitrios Grammozis is keen on keeping Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for another season.
Back in January, veteran striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar returned to his former club Schalke 04 on a short-term deal until the end of the season, at which point he is planning to hang up his boots.

Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis, however, hopes to convince the 37-year-old to stay for another season.

"Like with any other player, we want to open talks with him," Grammozis told Sky.

"We will use the next few days and weeks to talk to him and see what Klaas wants in the first place," added the Schalke coach, who is impressed with the striker's quality and mentality.

"In our last game, Klaas showed once again what quality he still has.

"In training, he is always one of the players who invests the most, and he never holds back. He is a thoroughbred footballer," said Grammozis.

Schalke are heading towards a first relegation in 33 years, having taken just 10 points from 27 games this season.
