As Bayern Munich face Paris Saint-Germain in a repeat match up of last year’s final, Hansi Flick has backed German center-back Jerome Boateng to lead Bayern to glory once again – both on the domestic and continental level.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the 1st leg tie, Flick praised the defender’s quality and experience. He said: "Everyone knows how I feel about Jerome and the quality that he has. He's very concentrated on his job and that's a good basis for him to perform well - which is what he's been doing lately.”
Flick also mentioned that it is easy to count on an experienced player of his stature, who has been a part of the team for a decade now – since moving from Manchester City in 2011.
”For a coaching team it's always good to be able to count on a player like that, who has such experience and great quality," he said.
Boateng played a pivotal part in Bayern’s treble and subsequent sextuple.
He has twice won the UEFA Champions League and will look to lead the Bavarians from the back in conquering his third and Bayern’s seventh title on the European stage.
