Despite dominating possession and creating the majority of the chances, Bayern München suffered a disappointing 2-3 defeat in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

In a rematch of last year's final that saw Bayern win 1-0, PSG grabbed an early lead through Kylian Mbappé, who beat Manuel Neuer at the near post in the 3rd minute, hitting back after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had hit the crossbar at the other end.

Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka then missed a couple of clear-cut chances for the hosts, who fell further behind in the 28th minute when Marquinhos slotted home after being given far too much space in the penalty area.

Former PSG forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, deputizing for the injured Robert Lewandowski, halved the deficit with 37 minutes on the clock, powering in a header from Benjamin Pavard's cross.

Just over the hour mark, Hansi Flick's troops went back on level terms as a free-kick from Joshua Kimmich was headed home by Thomas Müller.

But the guests restored their lead eight minutes later when Kylian Mbappé finished off a counter-attacking move to grab his second goal of the evening.

Bayern kept PSG under pressure in the final stage of the game, but were made to pay for their wastefulness as they ended up losing 2-3.
