Neuer & Lewandowski lauded as Bayern's foundation for success
Bayern swept everything in their path last season as they cruised to all possible titles on both the domestic and continental front.
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has credited the Bavarians’ success in recent years to two key players of the squad
Manuel Neuer & Robert Lewandowski have been named as the club’s best players in recent years, by the chief executive.
Speaking to The Athletic, he said: "We got the world's best goalkeeper and the world's best centre-forward - that has been the foundation of our success in the last six, seven years."
Bayern have seen the likes of some great players in their roster in recent years – including the likes of Alaba, Kimmich, Lahm and Thomas Muller. But the CEO maintains that the two aforementioned players were ‘outstanding’ in their exploits.
"There's a nice blend of players in the squad but those (two) were outstanding in the season gone by,” he added.
Having won the treble and the subsequent historic sextuple, Lewandowski’s goalscoring records & Neuer’s shot-stopping prowess were instrumental in leading Bayern to a host of trophies.
